Bubble Magick

I'm kind of going blog crazy tonight, but maybe it makes up for my absences!  Anyway, this blog was inspired by a blog post authored by a friend of mine: Danielle.

Apparently, bubble magick is a type of magick you can do to send a message to a person, alive or passed on.  I googled this practice and didn't find anything, so I'm going on my friend's post entirely.  Most of the websites that popped up from my search of "bubble magick" and "bubble spell magick" were of a guy blowing "magic bubbles" on YouTube or bubble spells on WoW and Final Fantasy video games. Yea... no.

Anyway, so to practice bubble magick, you have to have a clear and concise message you want to send to someone.  Make sure you hold it in your mind and keep it clear.

Visualize the intended recipient of your message and hold that image in your mind with the message you want to send them.

Now, mentally construct a bubble directly above you.  This bubble can be of a corresponding color to the kind of message you'd like to relay.  Danielle's blog post gives some color correspondences, and I'll provide 2 other sources for this as well: squidoo, and Weejee's Magick. Visualize your message being written inside the bubble.  Danielle's post suggests imagining the writing in gold, although I'm not sure why.  I imagine visualizing the writing being "etched in light" would be more suitable for my personal practice.

To finish the magick, imagine the bubble floating off towards its destination.
It may not hurt to visualize the bubble reaching its destination, for the good of all and with harm to none.

New Moon Abundance

Since I've started down this Pagan path I've never stopped hearing about abundance checks.  I hear about them constantly every new moon and I have yet to try them.

I recently watched the film The Secret, which, if you haven't seen it, it's really about an hour and a half or so of the same people telling you the same thing that was said in the first 15 minutes.  The Secret is all about the Law of Attraction, and they make it sound like it's some huge conspiracy that people have kept hidden away for centuries.  In my opinion, the way they did this film is what makes it sound so crazy.  The actual theory that positive thinking makes your life more of a positive experience makes perfect sense.

The idea is this:  your thoughts are brainwaves that are energy vibrations.  Science can measure your thoughts in brainwaves just like it can measure microwaves, sound-waves, and light-waves.  When you think, brainwaves are released into the Universe as a sort of beacon, and the Universe responds by sending you what it perceives you are asking for.  So, if you send out negative vibes, you'll continue to receive negative feedback and experiences because that's what you've primed yourself for.  On the other hand, think positively, sending out positive vibrations, and you're letting the Universe know that you're primed for positive experiences and energies.

Because I want to make myself open to experiencing what I can experience and I don't want to be a scrooge and a cynic, and because the new moon is tomorrow at 5:05pm EST, I've decided to give the abundance checks a try.  What I've read everywhere is that you write your name on the "Pay to the order of" spot, and "paid in full" in both dollar amount spots.  Most articles I've read say to leave the date blank, and to sign the check either "The Law of Attraction" or "The Law of Abundance."  You're also supposed to write the check within 24 hours after the new moon.  After writing the check, you're supposed to put it someplace safe and forget about it.  Some articles I read said to put it in your wallet and carry it with you.

I'll check back in about a month or so and give feedback on how this works out for me.  Blessed be!

Fighting Negativity at Work

Do you work in a less than glamorous work environment?  Do you have co-workers who can't stop complaining or gossiping?  I work in a jail.  The walls ooze negativity, as do the people inside them.  It's like a vacuum for negativity and it infects everyone.

I've been looking for a way to combat this negative energy.  Obviously, shielding is a very good option, but I'm not that great at shielding yet.  I need practice in a controlled environment so I can build my shield up strong and thick.  Of course, I did some research.

I found a wonderful blog post by feelgoodgirl that has some really good information in it about disengaging from negative energy.  She talks about imagining yourself surrounded by white light (this is a form of shielding!) and she also suggests crossing your arms when talking to someone you are feeling negative energy from to keep their energy from infiltrating yours.  I absolutely love one of her suggestions: laugh about it.  Laughter is a very powerful positive energy, and sometimes all you need to do is think of something ridiculous and it completely disarms the negative energy you're combating.  When I was dealing with an incredibly negative, aggravating, and downright incompetent boss, my counselor suggested finding an animal that I could imagine her as that fit her role in my life at work.  We decided on a squid, imagining all of her tentacles digging into things she knew nothing about and having her hands in "too many pots."  Now when I see her, even in passing, I can easily imagine her as a squid and I enjoy a little giggle to myself at how ridiculous she looks in my mind.

As far as spells and other magickal ways of combating negative energy, I've found a couple of those too.

I found a forum where a woman suggested filling a small jar with charged salt water and keeping it in your work locker, or in your desk, or even on your desk at work.  Empty it at the end of every day or shift and refill the next time you come in.

Another thing she suggested was to wear a colored ribbon cuff on your wrist to remind yourself not to get involved with negativity in the workplace.  She wore yellow because it had significance to her, and yellow holds significance to me as well, so I may use it.  You can research color correspondences and figure out what color resonates with the positive you.

The third and final spell I remembered from one of Ellen Dugan's books: Cottage Witchery.  If you haven't read this before, I'll post it again: Ellen Dugan is a wonderful magickal author and I love her books.  I highly recommend them.  Anyway, she calls this spell a magickal fence: fill 3 glasses with water (Or you can use plastic cups, coffee mugs, whatever you have at work).  Arrange them in a line between the co-worker giving off the negative vibes and yourself.  This is your fence.  Remember to charge the water with your intention and visualize the water collecting any and all negative energy being sent your way.  Don't drink this water.  When you're done with the spell or at the end of your shift, empty the cups in the toilet and flush.  If you use disposable cups, just throw them away.  If you use glasses or mugs, make sure to wash them thoroughly so none of that negative energy is left over to impact the next user's coffee or beverage!

Good luck out there!
