Books of Shadows
The above picture is a compilation of my future Book of Shadows. The already made book at the top that has "sample" on it is an example picture the creator of my BOS posted on etsy to show a finished product.
I won't receive my finished book for quite a while, I think, but I believe it'll be well worth the wait! So far, this etsy store has been absolutely FANTASTIC. Before I was ready to buy, I had some questions about the quality and craftsmanship of the books, and they exceeded my expectations in answering those questions. (FYI: these books are made to last!) Once I was ready to buy, both shop owners worked closely with me to come up with the exact idea of what I want out of my BOS. Even after I'd thought about multiple possibilities, they'd have something else up their sleeve that they were willing to look into! So far, their customer service has been a wonderful experience.
So if you're in the market for a really nice, hand-made, great-quality Book of Shadows that you can hand down through your family, here's the link for their etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/MagickallyMade
I can imagine a few people thinking to themselves, what is a Book of Shadows, anyway?
A [personal] Book of Shadows is a book/journal kept by a witch/Pagan/Wiccan that contains various information about their spiritual path. It can contain their beliefs, practices, rituals, spells, symbolic associations, color correspondences, moon phases and their meanings, etc. Covens tend to have a BOS for the whole coven, and some Wiccan traditions, like Gardnerian Wicca, have a BOS for the entire tradition. (Side note: a Wiccan tradition can be compared to the idea of a Christian denomination.)
Personally, I plan to keep my beliefs and practices in my BOS, along with spells and rituals, especially rituals I write myself. I plan to include correspondences and moon phases, etc, since I'll have 500 pages to work with!
Anyway, I'm really excited about this book even though I'll have to wait a while to get it! It was my Year-and-a-Day gift to myself!
