Cord Magick

I became interested in cord magick because of the theory that you can store energy in cords and release it later at an appropriate time when it's needed.  This got me thinking about storing calming energy in a cord that I can then release at work when I get stressed out.

I saw this video that gave me the idea to make a bracelet:

From what I've read about cord magick, you're supposed to untie your knots in the same order that you originally tied them, one day at a time.  This part of the process gets nixed when it comes to making a bracelet because of the style of cord I decided to use.  I used embroidery cord/thread.  I decided on 3 colors and braided the 3 threads together, then I tied my knots.

I started out by grounding and centering, then I visualized my desire (in this case I visualized my heart as a cup overflowing with gratitude).

Here's a sort of diagram with accompanying wording:

By knot of ONE, the spell's begun *--------
By knot of TWO, it cometh true *-------*
By knot of THREE, so mote it be *---*---*
By knot of FOUR, this power I store *-*-*---*
By knot of FIVE, the spell's alive *-*-*-*-*
By knot of SIX, this spell I fix ***-*-*-*
By knot of SEVEN, events I'll leaven ***-*-***
By knot of EIGHT, it will be Fate *****-***
By knot of NINE, what's done is mine *********

The asterisks and dashes show where you tie which knots.  As you tie your 9th knot, you visualize again your desire.  I found this video very helpful as an introduction on cord magick, although I didn't know what it was at the time:

This video really made me fall in love with the idea of magick as a part of my spirituality.  I really love this woman's work.

Anyway, back to cord magick.  I found this site really helpful in explaining the uses of cords, and this one is where I found the diagram and words.  I knew the words for the first 3 knots already from the 2nd video I've linked here.

If nothing else, this exercise is a wonderful way to focus your energy on a certain task or subject, and by wearing the cord like I am, anytime I see it on my wrist I'm reminded of why I wear it and what it stands for.
