As I began to walk this Pagan path, I was scared at first to get to know Goddess. This may have been because my brain was having a hard time remembering that Goddess and God both come from the same source of Spirit and are essentially one entity (in my belief system, anyway), or it may have been because I was afraid to lose my connection with the male aspect of God if I paid too much attention to the female aspect.
Goddess ended up making the real first move, though, and introduced herself to me through a dream. Goddess came to me in a familiar male role, but half way through my dream “he” transformed into a “she” and became Goddess. She did this through an anecdote using a spiritual figure already familiar to me: Jesus. For some reason this dream made perfect sense to me. Spiritually, the female aspect of Spirit has replaced Jesus in my personal trinity. My trinity has Spirit at the top, with the God and the Goddess stemming out from there. Jesus is now held as more of an Ascended Master in my spirituality, similar to the Buddha.
As I’ve gotten to know Goddess and become more familiar with Her, I’ve also started to notice how much more balanced my spirituality has become. Having a heavenly mother is just as important to me as having a heavenly father, and the Goddess seems to actually be easier to relate to for me since I’m a woman.
