Being my first post, I guess I should introduce myself. Online I go by Tamra, both because it's my working craft name and because of the anonymity it provides. I am married to the most wonderful man I've ever met, I have a passion for photography, and I classify my religious views as "episcopagan."
That last little detail normally raises some eyebrows, so let me explain. I grew up Christian, in an Episcopal household. For those who've never heard of the Episcopal denomination of Christianity before, Robin Williams calls it "Catholic Lite." Anyway, about a year before this blog post, I made friends with some very nice people who called themselves Pagan. I am someone who, over the years, has learned to respect others' beliefs even when they don't match my own. We got along great and slowly I learned more and more about their spiritual views. I started to figure out that I agreed with a lot of what they believed, so I started doing my own research.
I have come to love the Pagan community. Many Pagans have differing views and a wider range of spirituality is accepted. The problem comes when a Christian wants to become Pagan, but keep some of their Christian spirituality. Both sides have a hard time seeing the happy medium, and many believe it's simply impossible.
But I live it. I still listen to Christian radio and I go to church when I can. But I also create my own spiritual experience at home, working with the elements and the energy of the earth.
For now I've spent enough time on spirituality, so I'll go into more detail about my spiritual beliefs in later posts. I'll post about photography as well: new tidbits I learn here and there, along with updates about how my personal business is doing.
I chose the name, "Tamra's Florida Loft" because I live in Florida in a 1-bedroom apartment on the top floor of my building. It's a tiny little place and my husband and I are just starting out, so I'll be posting about the things I learn here and there about life and how I'd like to live it. So far I've planned to post about couponing (we're broke and I need to save as much money as I can!), items you can make at home to save money like laundry soap and lotion, and foodie homemade stuff like making garlic oil and vanilla extract.
Basically, I'll post about whatever I find interesting, so beware! I'll make sure to tag posts correctly so if you're looking for a certain topic you can find it easily. I hope you enjoy my blog!
